Southern Illinois Toddler Spaces
Keepers of Children, here is a professional tip:
Kid-friendly does NOT equal toddler-friendly. In fact, it pretty much means kindergarten age/ability and up.
This was really hard for me to understand as a first-time mom who frankly spent most of her life convinced she would not have children. This was especially hard as a mom whose kiddo was delayed in walking. Because kid-friendly usually means walking, climbing. It means playgrounds and slides. It rarely means there is a space for a child to sit and play contently, with something also stimulating for their guardian too. Southern Illinois is plentiful with the outdoors and hiking, but when you are not very strong or your baby does not enjoy being worn, carrying 25 squirming pounds down a trail is not a real option. So what do you do? Do you shut yourself inside the house for a few years? What about if you have two children within three years - where can you take them both at such different stages?
Well, Iām here to help the best I can with those answers. This will be an ever-evolving blog as I personally check out these places and rate them toddler-friendly. I will do my best to compile all the information YOU NEED to feel comfortable bringing your little one to these places. I am always open to suggestions, please forward them to jessithomas618@gmail.com.
